Child father is a horrible man that I do not want to have visitation. However, with child support comes visit?

My child's father is not on the birth certificate, and I do not want him to be an influence on my child. He has become a horrible person. Consequently, I do not want him to have visitation but child support would be helpful but not critical. What should I do? My first concern is protecting my child.
