Will Team Obama's movement to criminalize "Hate Speech" erode the first amendment, or is that so old it's dead?

I'm thinking once Team Obama identifies the topics of speech that are acceptable, it will stifle creativity. Not being allowed to talk about unregulated subjects will put out the fires of creative innovation
