Can I blame this on football season?

Okay so normally I would chalk this up to "he's just not that in to you," and move on, but I've been seeing this guy since around Halloween and we've been enjoying each other's company. He texts me often. He always calls (not texts) to ask me out on dates. We're very flirtatious and he's very attentive when we are intimate. He is affectionate, but still enjoys that witty "poking fun" that many guys do. I asked him to go out on Saturday - during the day - and he said "you must not have seen the football schedule ;)" I understand (and have since we started dating - our second date was to a bar to watch a game) that he is really in to football and he knows that I am not. But I haven't heard from him in a few days and I'm wondering if I should just ume that he is engulfed in the football season (ie why he wasn't available sat and didn't contact me monday) or is it silly to blame it on football. Oh and by the way, his job used (and still kinda is) be revolved around sports too. Anyway, I'm just trying to figure out if I should back off for a while.
